In 2019 my small classic gaff rigged boat “Tinker” was due for a complete paint job. I engaged Abel Marine to undertake the work which involved completely striping her back to bare wood. She was then subsequently built up with high quality primers, undercoats and top coats. The job description was simply “let’s get Tinker back to her classic looks”. She was a blank canvas. Abel Marine crafted an absolutely delightful classic yacht that has endured the test of time to look just as good today as she did years ago. Brent and Charmaine take absolute pride in their work. Tinker is a perfect testament of their quality workmanship. Boating NZ published a feature about Tinker which highlights her history including the work carried out by Abel Marine.

Brent and Charmaine (Abel Marine) have been our ‘go-to’ help-mates for some years now. We approached them initially, because they had such a high standing amongst the boaties at the marina. They’ve given us great advice and guidance as to what to do and how to go about it. They work to a consistently high standard in every way for all our painting and anti-fouling needs, and never fail to include those ‘little extras’.
